Frequently Asked Questions

What's a good roof for solar?

Solar panels are most commonly positioned on a sloping roof where there is at least 8m2 of space available. To achieve maximum benefit, the roof should also face somewhere between South West and South East.

Why should I install a PV system?

By installing a solar PV system you will be generating your own clean green electricity from the free energy of the sun. This will not only reduce your electricity bills but will also reduce your carbon footprint.

Will I need to adapt my home to run on solar power?

No. Solar power electric systems fit seamlessly into your building. You won't have to buy new appliances or change your electrical outlets; everything will work just the same as it did before.

Would I need planning permission for solar panels?

You generally don't need planning consent for solar. Exceptions are if you live in a conservation areas or if your property has Listed Building status. It's best to check with your local council planning officer if you are not sure.
